Collin County Jail State Certified for 30th Year
This week the Texas Commission on Jail Standards visited Collin County to conduct the annual surprise inspection of the Collin County jail. Inspectors spent the week examining every area and every system in the detention facility, judging the county against the state’s requirements.
I’m very pleased to announce that our Collin County jail passed state inspection for the 30th consecutive year!
During the post-inspection conference, the inspector commented, “What’s the best thing a county can be? Proactive. And Collin County is proactive!” The inspector also stated that he considers the Collin County facility to be one of the two best-run jails in the state of Texas!
I would like to offer congratulations and a personal note of appreciation to Sheriff Jim Skinner, Deputy Chief Randy Clark, Jail Administrator Terry McCraw, and all the men and women of the Collin County Sheriff’s Office! Thank you for serving our citizens with excellence and integrity!

Collin County Recognized for Excellence
The commissioners court recently accepted the Fiscal Year 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, presented by the county’s independent auditing firm, Pattillo, Brown & Hill. For fiscal year 2016, Collin County once again received an unqualified – or “clean” – opinion on the county’s financial statements. Additionally, County Auditor Jeff May received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for this year’s report, marking the 37th consecutive year that Collin County has earned this achievement!
Congratulations to County Auditor May, Budget Director Monika Arris, and all the men and women of the county audit and budget departments! Thank you for serving our citizens with excellence and integrity!
