DSHS withholding doses from Collin County

According to Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) Chief Nim Kidd, Collin County has the worst ratio of vaccine doses received vs. county population of all 254 Texas counties.

Clearly, the State not has provided an adequate or equitable share of the vaccines to Collin County.

This is not acceptable and it needs to change immediately.

Collin County is ready and able TODAY to administer up to 2,000 vaccine doses per day, and has the capacity to ramp up to 6,000 doses per day per location by January 25. Multiple locations for vaccine mega-centers have already been secured. A registration list of 86,000 Texans waiting for the vaccine has already been developed. A partnership with more than 30 local entities is already in place. Collin County has tremendous resources and capabilities to get vaccines to the community TODAY, but the State is not taking advantage of the resources and capabilities available in Collin County.
